Maypen Village Replaces Kerosene Lamps With Solar Lights From The Grid Earth Project

Once on the other side the landscape is lush and beautiful. The local villagers primarily farm the fertile land along the river banks and gather much of their food from the surrounding jungle. The people are warm and welcoming and work hard at sustaining their families. The sense of community abounds and everyone comes together to help when needed. The night before a young man had gotten lost in the darkness along the river and everyone turned out to help in the search.

Until the visit from the Grid Earth Project, the people of Maypen depended upon kerosene lamps for light in their homes, and at the mercy of the moonlight when outdoors at night. This changed when the Grid Earth Project provided safe solar light for each home in May Pen Village. The lamps are not only used at home, they are portable and can be used when traveling in the darkness. Maypen is a safer and healthier village today.
